Successful CBA Signing at PGPC
Legazpi City – On June 8, 2017, the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch (RCMB) – V composed of Director Reynaldo Foncardas, Supervising Labor and Employment Officer Josephine Amaranto and Senior LEO Efleda Hourani witnessed the formal signing of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Philippine Geothermal Production Company, Inc. and Philippine Geothermal, Inc.-Tiwi Exempt Employees’ Union held at Hotel Fina, Tabaco City.
“It was a joyous event to watch considering the successful conclusion of the CBA after several months of negotiation and bargaining. Both parties expressed their mutual trust and respect with each other despite their differences in their stand on many issues,” mused Director Foncardas.
“On the part of the union, President Alexander Estrada expressed that though not all their demands were granted, still their confidence with management remained intact. No show of disrespect happened. Everyone was respecting everyone else. Both sides remained calm. Peace still remained in the company,” narrated SupLEO Amaranto.
“And even management panel, Director for Operations Hector Morota also praised the union for being level-headed and respectful despite their differing opinions. PGPC President Tony Yee who graced the occasion likewise expressed his admiration for the peaceful end of negotiation,” continued SupLEO Amaranto.
Regional Branch Director Foncardas who was also requested to give a message, assured everyone of the accessibility of NCMB conciliation and mediation services round the clock. He reassured that the Branch will provide conciliation-mediation services 24/7. He emphasized that it does not matter how many negotiation meetings happened as long as the case resulted in a win-win solution and it did not result in work stoppage or lockout. He asserted that in the context of a harmonious working relationship, good communication is a must. He expressed optimism that the peaceful industrial relationship in the company will continue.
